Nerd-Base.com is dedicated to entertaining you with news, stories, interviews, videos, and podcasts dealing with many aspects of nerd & geek culture. We believe that being a nerd/geek is more than just being into video games and comic books.
If you think you can contribute to the site, feel free to email Chris at firstname.lastname@example.org
Just tell me what you can contribute anything from site construction to writing/contributing. Link me to some examples of your work and we’ll go from there!
Here’s a little introduction to the current team:
Christopher Lee Mannix is the “Head-Nerd” of the Nerd-Base. Growing up during the days of Saturday Morning cartoons, Afternoon Specials, tons of kaiju, 50′s & 60′s sci-fi and horror, classic BBC programming, Late, Late shows, weird television, and sketchy UHF channels has left a chasm in his brain filled to overflowing with knowledge of pop and underground culture. At 11 years old he found David Lynch, John Waters, and college radio. That kind of cemented things. He’s weird.
Rishard Chapoteau’s nerd awakened around the age of 8 with the Transformers. He recieved Blue Streak, and 2 days later broke it, and cried a lot. Soon after he got into comics, followed soon by Pac-Man and horrible kung-fu dubs. His uncle did him a huge favor around the age of 8 or 9 and gave him his first computer. It was a TI-99/4A. Rishard has been stuck in front of a computer ever since. His other hobbies include anime, video games, and long walks in the park. Sorry ladies, he’s taken.
David Chosid and the high school gaming club were kicked out of the yearbook for posing on one knee, arms raised to the sky, worshiping a non-approved deity. Today, he still battles the forces of evil using Super-Science and awesome fighting skills. His geeky passions include anime, cartoons from the 80′s and 90′s, quality American animations, video games (adventure, rpg, fighting), cult classics, cult non-classics, kung fu flicks, samurai dramas, classic manga and graphic novels, rpg’s (real ones), cosplay, and martial arts. He is also Batman.
Brian is possibly the most famous one of the crew. He’s had the title role in a b-horror-film, and is the “star” of an interview show on the local cable networks AND the he’s the only multi-lingual one of us! (save maybe Mike H, he’s the fox whisperer). He also has the best hair, a fact which makes Chris jealous.
Amanda is the newest member of the Nerd-Base team and is thrilled to add her geeky input to this wonderful site! She was pulled into the nerd world almost a decade ago when she first watched an episode of Doctor Who (Chris Eccleston/Russel T. era).
Since then she has attended many conventions, started reading a wide array of comic books, and earned the title of Padawan when she went full force (pun intended) into the Star Wars fandom.
