You all know the story, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 32nd President of the USA, was out on a hunting trip with his buddies when a chance encounter with a werewolf left a couple of his friends dead and a chunk bitten out of his leg. What he didn’t know at the time was that werewolf bites give you polio. He was also not aware of the deeper conspiracy involving the Third Reich. Now, the history books may tell it differently, but that’s how Ross Patterson’s film FDR: American Badass begins, and it only gets better from there. Review: The Great Calamity (from the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter blu-ray)

So I had a bit of a time getting to NYCC on Friday morning and missed one of the panels I was really looking forward to. It was a preview of the upcoming blu-ray release of the film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. More specifically, the animated short “The Great Calamity” which will be included on the disc. NYCC: Robot Chicken

     Many moons ago I came across a funny little stop-motion series called “Sweet J Presents”. A  funny little spot of stop-motion animated toys involved in skits that rode the edges of pop-culture, random acts of violence, and kindergarten level fart jokes. Well, Sweet J grew up (sort of) and built a robot. Then that robot was attached to a chicken. Then it went back to business as usual, albeit with a bigger budget with which to buy more toys. Robot Chicken is now a phenomena unto itself with massive DVD sales of their Star Wars specials, the upcoming release of the new DC Comics special they did, and the newly announced resurrection of the show for a seventh season!!  Continue reading
