Review: Total Confusion 2013 (Gaming Con)

Part of the CCG and board game room

Total Confusion is my favorite gaming con. It is pretty much a 4-day pure gaming convention made up of a good number of board games, RPGs, LARPs, card games, and table top model strategies. There is also a small vendor area, some panels, a video game room, a video showing area, and some performances. There is even a listing of old-school RPGs for geezers like me. I try to hit this con every year. This year’s con (27 years and going) ran from February 21-24, 2013 in Mansfield, MA; I attended on Saturday.

10 Years of Red Vs Blue: The greatest machinima series. Of all time.

“Hey….You ever wonder why we’re here?”

Review: The Great Calamity (from the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter blu-ray)

So I had a bit of a time getting to NYCC on Friday morning and missed one of the panels I was really looking forward to. It was a preview of the upcoming blu-ray release of the film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. More specifically, the animated short “The Great Calamity” which will be included on the disc. Thankfully, their publicist is awesome and set up a quick phone interview with the creators of the project.  Continue reading

NYCC: Robot Chicken

Many moons ago I came across a funny little stop-motion series called “Sweet J Presents”. A  funny little spot of stop-motion animated toys involved in skits that rode the edges of pop-culture, random acts of violence, and kindergarten level fart jokes. Well, Sweet J grew up (sort of) and built a robot. Then that robot was attached to a chicken. Then it went back to business as usual, albeit with a bigger budget with which to buy more toys. Robot Chicken is now a phenomena unto itself with massive DVD sales of their Star Wars specials, the upcoming release of the new DC Comics special they did, and the newly announced resurrection of the show for a seventh season!!  Continue reading
