Hero Within: Geek Chic’s Next Level

Today is a special day.

My friend Tony, who is very well integrated in the nerd world (he hosts many panels all over the US, including San Diego Comic Con, and runs his own blog ‘Crazy4ComicCon‘), is bringing fashion and geekiness together with a line of nerdy clothing for men with a slight twist on what we’re used to.

I met Tony a few years ago through common fandoms and interests on social media, and officially at Philly Wizard World when he had reached out to me regarding panels he was set to host, and looking for knowledgeable nerds for panelists, and knew I had quite a few connections. Since then, he’s referred to me as his ‘Nick Fury’ if you will (Nicolette Fury?). I gather geek professionals for his Philly Wizard World panels, and it’s a blast.

What I’ve always noticed each year I saw Tony, even through pictures that he posts on his many con adventures, is that  Continue reading

THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR A FEW TV SERIES – CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED

This is a fantastic time in television history to be a geek. Sure in the past we’ve had lots of wonderful and dare I say, legendary shows, but it’s always been one or two shows worth watching at a time. No longer. Our community of fandoms now has a plethora of shows that fit many genres yet somehow all cater to the same “type” of people, which is wonderful. One of Marvel NOW’s most anticipated books releases this week, Avengers #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Jerome Opena.  I must say that I’m super excited for this book.  Hickman quickly made Fantastic Four one of my favorite books, so it’ll be great to see what he can do with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.  From DC we see the Rotworld story continue with both Animal Man and Swamp Thing releasing their 15th issues.  Now for some covers.

Comic Book Covers 11/28/2012

There’s a bunch of stuff happening in comics this week.  On the Marvel side we have another new Marvel NOW! book in Hickman’s FF #1.  We also see the end of Brian Michael Bendis’ many years long run on the Avengers with New Avengers #34.  Sad to see him go, but it’s in great hands with Hickman.  For DC we get the first part of the big Aquaman / Justice League crossover: “Throne of Atlantis”.  It may be hard to believe but with Geoff Johns at the helm Aquaman has been fantastic.  Before Watchman also returns this week with Ozymandias and Silk Spectre.  Lots of great covers this week, here’s a few of them.
