2016 has been a special year for Harry Potter fans. First we were able to get our hands on another Harry Potter book focusing on the children of our beloved characters, The Cursed Child. Now, JK Rowling has given us a brand new set of amazing characters in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
In Fantastic Beasts, Harry Potter and friends do not even exist yet. Set in the mid 1920’s, we get to experience the wizarding world across the pond in New York City focusing on the adventures of Newt Scamander, author of one of the famous Hogwarts textbooks, wait for it, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t Continue reading
Below are some cosplay photos from the Rhode Island Comic Con 2013 in Providence, RI, Nov 2-3. I’m Ming the Merciless being pictured with William Zabka (Johnny from The Karate Kid) and SAM JONES (Flash Gordon of course).
Please do not steal our pictures without permission. I wish I didn’t have to say that. If you’d like to be tagged in an image of you, please let us know! If you’d like a copy of one of your own pictures, email us at info @ nerd-base.com. Thanks!

If you look up just about anything on the Olympics today, you’re bound to see any one of the litany of sites offering “Top <insert # here> Pictures of Olympic Synchornized Swimmers Frightening Faces”.
I often enjoy a little bit of leisurely photo-manipulation, so here’s my contribution to the fold.
I’ve opened up photo reply, so feel free to show me your versions!!
When I started this blog, I had every intention of it being a sort of “full-bodied” geek blog. Where I (and any contributers that I may find, still lookin’ guys…) could really just post anything that I could be nerdy/geeky about. That could honestly be ANYTHING. It’s a very large misunderstanding that all geeks are into naught but Comics, Video Games, RPG’s and the like. But truth be told, some of us are into other things. I could sit here and go on and on about music, movies, and yes, I get really into the Olympics. I used to play basketball in H.S. Sports aren’t really as bad as some more “traditional” nerds & geeks make them out to be. I mean, you won’t find me watching foosball, but if someone says, “Hey man, wanna go out and play baseball/basketball/hockey/ect…” I’ll probably say yes. It’s fun!
So there you have it. A little insight into me (Chris) and what I intend this blog to be. I may not update it as often as I’d like, but sometimes you just hit a rut. THAT’S why I am still asking for contributers/writers.
I plan to be porting over to WordPress within the next month/month 1/2. Anyone who could lend a hand is more than welcome. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

My pal Nicci (aka in certain circles, Björn-Lagmancer) just signed up onto tumblr (where this site is hosted fyi). Here’s her blog. She just sent this to me, it’s pretty rad. For such a nut, the girl’s got some great (read: pretty sick) artistic costume/prop making skills.
She recently embarked on a venture to create her own Dragon Priest masks (which are pretty damned rad if not to dissimilar from the Death Eater masks in “Harry Potter” though a lot cooler) from Skyrim. She made a video, check it out! (FYI, she makes it look easy. Knowing her, I’m sure it’s just to poke fun at those who try to do the same, haha)
and finished after she had painted them:
To round out the post, here’s a pic of her in her Skyrim/Dovahkiin costume that she wore at a recent con (minding you, again, that she made herself).
I’m thinking I might have to commission her to make some pieces for me.
