♫ Nerd-Base will review
a little show for you
and that show is called Galavant! ♫
Ever since the previews first ran for ABC’s 8 episode mini-series Galavant (which was sort of a spot holder for Once Upon A Time), I had been anxiously waiting for the premiere. Not only did it look hilarious, but the cast included Timothy Omundson, Ricky Gervais, John Stamos, Weird Al, and Anthony Head! With a stellar cast like that, this obviously wasn’t something I could just pass up even though I currently watch about 10 shows at the moment.
As the first episode premiered, I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew it was a musical, and I knew it was a comedy. Right away, it started out with Continue reading Galavant.. I haven’t laughed so hard in MINUTES.
As we all know, there are a plethora of TV shows continuing as well as airing for the first time this spring. For those of us who had a full fall schedule of new and old TV shows, this whole mid-season break was both awful and amazing. Awful because waiting just a week to see a cliffhanger was hard enough, but amazing because we were actually able to live our lives and DO THINGS (or at least pretend to).
Fall 2014 has had some of the best television shows that I’ve seen in a while. It was a bit too much on occasion because even if I fell one or two nights behind, my DVR was filled up.
In no particular order, here are the list of Spring shows that I’m looking forward to most:
1. The Flash (Returning January 20 at 8:00 PM on The CW)
With the big success of Arrow, DC gave the CW another super hero to grace our televisions with this fall, Barry Allen aka The Flash. Grant Gustin plays Allen perfectly, a hero when he needs to be, and a normal, awkward twenty-something the other times; Gustin really gives this character heart. The costume design is modern and fresh, and the chemistry between all of the characters is perfect. Although Arrow helped The Flash kickoff by introducing Barry in an episode, knowing Continue reading Amanda’s Spring TV Line Up 2015
Two weeks ago I (as well as Nerd-Base member Chris) participated in the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, also known as GISHWHES. Although I’ve been a fan of Misha Collins for some time now, this was my first year participating in this worldwide record breaking scavenger hunt.
I was actually put in a group without my knowledge. Not to say I didn’t want to participate, but every year I seemed to have made up excuses to get out of joining in the fun. Perhaps I was a bit nervous about breaking out of my shell and doing weird things in public? Last year I was on a road trip with Chris. We probably could have participated but it would likely be a lot harder to tackle most of the items. This year I’m unemployed and broke, but I’m glad I was pushed into doing it.
A couple of our friends that live in North Carolina started the group and invited us to join their team, Mischief Mismanaged. We were short four people, so the folks who help run GISHWHES placed another small team with our group – some lovely young ladies from Canada. Any time teams are combined, the team names are combined with the word ‘loves’. So, our official team name ended up being Mischief-MismanagedlovesWinging-it.
The list went up on Saturday, August 2nd. Which also happened to be the last day I was Continue reading GISHWHES 2014
As you look at the title you may be thinking, “Are the writers of Nerd-Base drunk or something?” Well, first of all, that’s none of your business, second, GISHWHES stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. It was created by actor/humanitarian/overlord Misha Collins (who plays Castiel in the hit TV show Supernatural).
If you’re the type of person who hates fun, meeting new people, and all around making your life more exciting, then don’t read on. GISHWHES is not for everyone, and that’s okay. I mean, not everyone enjoys living their life to the fullest. Some people just like to live vicariously through other people who have fun. We are in a techy world, after all! Maybe you enjoy having fun, but you’re a bit shy or introverted. GISHWHES is actually Continue reading GISHWHES
Think you are a nerdy parent? Christie and her husband Eric take nerdy parenting to a whole new level of awesome. Meet Rory (yes, he is in fact named after Continue reading Geek Parenting Done Right.
As a life sized cardboard cut out of Castiel stares at me, I figured I would talk about the anticipated season finale of Supernatural.
Per usual, there will be SPOILERS here, so if you haven’t seen the finale yet, I would not scroll any further. You were warned…
With the confirmation that Continue reading Do You Believe in Miracles?
