Hey! Guess What!? Next year, Disney is bringing back their beloved, Emmy award winning series, DuckTales!
Many of us remember DuckTales fondly. whether it be for the series or the infamously awesome CAPCOM video game (which, incidently, recently got an HD remake itself and it’s GLORIOUS).
For our younger readers, who may not know of this magic; The original series ran for 100 episodes between 1987 and 1990. They covered a lot of adventurous ground and hit a lot of wonderful pop culture references. It paved the way for a lot of Disney’s TV cartoon syndication platform and was, in a way, the launching pad for shows like TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck, the latter of which was HUGE among a lot of my friends (two of which got DwD tattoos in case you’re daring to think, “Oh it wasn’t THAT good…”).
Historically, and against a lot of producers saying otherwise, Disney had taken a big risk bringing DuckTales to the world. The high animation quality cost a lot more than most cartoons that were out at the time (infamously bad animation like GI Joe for example), but ultimately, along with the great writing, it paid off for Disney just when they needed it and brought Disney’s animation studios back into the limelight.
But then, you’re not here for a historical re-enactment of the foundation of Duckberg, you want to see what your new Duck Tales is going to look like when it hits next year, well, here you go!
