mainfeatureslider

The time is upon us again.  The NY Asian Fim Festival kicks off Friday June 27th with over 60 movies this year.  There are a lot of great movies playing that I just won’t have time to see.  I’ve went through all the trailers and all of the information on the different movies they are showing, and I’ve picked a list of 5 movies that I really want to check out, and so should you.

Nerd-Base reviews Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition DX Plus Alpha

SDR3

There were a lot of games announced at E3 this year. One that caught my eye the most was Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition DX Plus Alpha (SUDR3) . . . now say that 3 times fast.   The amazing thing is that Capcom was able to keep it under their hat, and release it the day of E3.

SUDR3 is a DLC add-on for Dead Rising 3 that adds several characters from Capcom’s other game franchises into Dead Rising 3 . . . sort of.  What’s actually happening is that the 4 main characters from the Dead Rising series have broken into a costume store and are cosplaying as these other characters.   While they are cosplaying, they can pull off that characters moves.  As an example, while Nick is cosplaying as Ryu from the Street Fighter franchise, he gains the ability to throw fireballs.  This whole thing sounds awesome, but it isn’t without its flaws.

Edge of Tomorrow is more than Groundhogs Day + [insert title movie here]

Edge of Tomorrow NB smaller

The summer blockbuster movie onslaught has been in full force since the beginning of May.  Most summer blockbuster films are full of explosions and one liners, and while all of that can be fun to see, they are very one note.   At the NYC premiere, for Edge of tomorrow, America’s golden boy Tom Cruise, came into our theater to intro the movie, and delivered a bunch of one liners from his previous flicks.  I almost felt like he was preparing me for what to expect.   I started to imagine Tom Cruise herpin and derpin from one moment to another delivering cool one liners along the way.  I was dead wrong.  Edge of Tomorrow goes well beyond the need for a memorable one liner, and delivers the best summer blockbuster of the year.
