Congratulations to The Rhode Island Comic Con organization for blowing way past their turn-out in 2013, on Saturday alone! However, it seems that the Rhode Island Convention Center wasn’t ready for the big leagues.
On November 1st, 2014, a little prior to 3pm, the RI State Fire Marshall shut down the registration area of the Convention Center due to the Center reaching capacity This meant that no one new was allowed to enter the RI Comic Con.
I was covering the convention for Nerd-Base. On Saturday, I arrived prior to the debacle. However, I never received a convention program. I inquired with RICC staff where I could get pick one up and was directed down to the first floor, where Continue reading
A while back David had informed me that a live action version of one of our mutual all-time-favorite anime series, Rurouni Kenshin had been released. We watched it with understandable reservations. Thankfully, so thankfully, our reservations were unnecessary. At Anime Boston this year I got a chance to see a lot of anime, but I also missed a lot as well because of time conflicts. One thing I wanted to see, but couldn’t was Psycho-Pass. Once I got home, I immediately remedied that situation. Psycho-Pass takes place in a dystopian future where it is possible to instantaneously measure a person’s mental state, and the probability that a person will commit crimes. While the story on the surface sounds similar to Minority Report, I think it goes much further than that.
There are a lot of great cosplayers at Anime Boston every year. I was really impressed by several of them. There were some bad ones as well, but I rarely ever got that cringe worthy feeling from them. The photos were taken by Dave Chosid and I. I hope you enjoy them. If you want to read about our Anime Boston experiences from this year, you can check them out here. You can also go back and check out last years Anime Boston cosplay photos as well.
The best anime convention on the east coast has come and gone for another year. Anime Boston sailed in over the past weekend, and delivered a lot of really good anime series I’m going to have to finish watching. With the exception of a few hiccups, the staff that runs the convention has created another top notch experience for all involved.
