Stand by for excitement!!

Hello friends, Christopher Lee here. I just wanted to drop a quick note on the front page to say thanks for stopping by to the new readers, hello again if I just met you, and please keep coming back to all of you.

David, Rishard and I are all attending New York Comic Con this weekend, so there won’t be a lot of content until Monday-ish when we pool together all we’ve seen and done, get a good look at the insane amount of pictures and video we’ve been taking, and figure out how best to share it all with you!!

We’ve got tons of great cosplay photos, I spoke to a bunch of teams of interesting new products, went to the Square/Enix pad and played the new Tomb Raider and Hitman games, literally rubbed elbows with Jackson Publick of the Venture Bros, and chatted with Seth Green of Robot Chicken….and much, MUCH more…

So! Keep checking back, and have a great weekend!

Comic Book Covers 10/10/2012

This week there was a large number of great covers released.  I realized I would have a really hard time narrowing it down to my 3 favorite.  Then I realized this is my article and I can do what I want.  Besides, far be it for me to deprive you of some great comic book art.

Before Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan #2

Cover by Adam Hughes

Adam Hughes is mostly known for drawing pretty ladies, and doing it very well.  His runs on books like Catwoman and Wonder Woman led to some really fantastic covers.  Many of them are collected in the book “Cover Run: The DC Comics art of Adam Hughes”, which is well worth a purchase.  It’s nice to see him work on a book focused on a male character, although he has been managing to sneak the ladies into the covers.  I really like the classic feel of this cover, along with Silk Spectre’s perfectly positioned head.

Red She-Hulk #58

Variant Cover by Skottie Young

I should probably state that any week where there is a cover by Skottie Young, it has about a 95% chance of making this list.  I absolutely love his work, especially when he’s drawing the baby version of characters.  On top of that, this cover features Aaron Stack, also known as Machine Man.  If you don’t know who he is, he’s a surly robot who likes beer.  Check out Next Wave: Agents of H.A.T.E. by Warren Ellis in which he features prominently.  You won’t be disappointed.

Uncanny Avengers #1

Variant Cover by Skottie Young

Variant Cover by Mark Brooks

I chose two different covers for Uncanny Avengers #1 because I liked them so much.  As I previously mentioned Skottie Young baby characters get the thumbs up from me.  The Deadpool cover I like because, well it’s Deadpool, and the stuff written on the board behind him makes me laugh.

Batman #13

Cover by Greg Capullo

Variant Cover by Greg Capullo

I also chose two covers for Batman 13, and I don’t think you can blame me.  This month starts the story arc “Death of the Family”, and guess who’s back?  Scott Snyder’s Batman is pretty easily one of the best books DC puts out, and one of the best on the shelves every month.  Night of the Owls, the previous story arc, was a great read, and I’m really looking forward to this.  If you’re a Batman fan you should really check it out.
