If you’re a nerd over 30, chances are you have a ton of stuff you just don’t have any use for anymore, but you don’t know how to get rid of it. I was in that situation for a while. I had over 2000 comics and I didn’t know what to do with them. I thought about selling them on Craigslist or EBay, but there is lot of time and effort that goes into that for very little reward. If I sell it to a store it will be quick, but they will only give me a nickel per issue. In the end I figured I’d donate the comics and use it as a tax deduction. While I got nothing up front at the time, I made the donation, it definitely just helped with my tax refund. It was also fairly quick and painless. Read on to see my experience in donating comics.

The Superheroes of Film: Then Vs. Now
Check out this great infographic that was sent to us from the team over at Direct2TV. They’ve pitted the stars who’ve portrayed some of the biggest comic-book heroes on film against each other! Pretty good AND informative if you ask me! What do you think? Any others not portrayed here you’d like to see/point out?
What Are Your Favorite 1-Shot Comics?
We haven’t had a “Top 10” post in a bit. Everyone seems to love those, but there’s so many out there, coming up with an original idea for them can be a bit daunting. But now I’ve an idea, and I’d like you, our readers to help out building this one. Why am I turning to you? Have you ever read the comments on the lists out there written solely by the authors? EVERYONE has their own advice. I don’t consider myself a definitive authority. Yes, I love comics, but I know there are plenty I’ve never read.
So, email me at info (at) nerd-base.com and let me know your favorite 1-shots!! Fantastic stand-alone comics that you’ve read that stuck with you. They could be part of a series, but not part of a story arc.
When submitting, please include a quick review, images if you have any, and a link to your own blog/page/twitter if you have one so I can add attribution to the entry. The team and I will check out the reviews and pick from there.
Comic Book Covers 12/5/2012
One of Marvel NOW’s most anticipated books releases this week, Avengers #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Jerome Opena. I must say that I’m super excited for this book. Hickman quickly made Fantastic Four one of my favorite books, so it’ll be great to see what he can do with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. From DC we see the Rotworld story continue with both Animal Man and Swamp Thing releasing their 15th issues. Now for some covers.
