Here’s my three favorite covers from this week in comics.
Uncanny X-Men #19
Cover by Ron Garney & Matt Milla
This week marks the end of the Avengers vs. X-Men series and I’m excited to see how it wraps up. Here we see the Phoenix possessed Scott Summers unleashing some eye-beam fury on the Avengers. The Phoenix has never been known to be kind to its hosts, and things aren’t looking so great for Scott.
Uncanny X-Force #32
Cover by Jerome Opena & Dean White
There are few rivalries in comics as brutal and visceral as Wolverine vs. Sabretooth. We’ve been watching these two go at it for as long as I can remember, and for me at least it hasn’t gotten old. This cover captures the intensity of the rivalry quite well.
Before Watchmen: Rorschach #2
There was so much negativity directed at the Before Watchmen series when it was first announced. I, for one, have been enjoying each of the books and am enjoying exploring the backgrounds of all these great characters. Rorschach is such a messed up guy that it’s fun to hang out in his head for a bit.
Love the Cyclops cover. Geez. They haven’t worked out that whole Phoenix thing yet?

The Phoenix came back and somehow split in five inhabiting five of the X-Men. I didn’t keep up with it as much as I wanted….but I know that much.

Yeah, it was split between Cyclops, Emma Frost, Colossus, Magik, and Namor. They’ve been using it to remake the world into a Utopia for both humans and mutants. But of course the Phoenix force has been slowly corrupting them, and bad things ensue.
