Remember that Smiths game for NES?

Neither do I. Okay, it was a fever dream. That’s what I tell everyone at least.

Or was it? This evidence may convince you otherwise:

Again, another great bit of music inspired by video games and fantastic hair.

I’m honestly trying to hold back quite a bit from gushing too much being a big fan of both the Smiths and midi tracks. So instead, I’ll just leave this post as is and fall back into my imagination trying as hard as I can to insert a memory of playing a game in my youth on the NES where Mozz rides his bike around collecting bouquets of flowers, lamé shirts, and mousse for bonus points while he makes it to his gigs so he can raise money to pay the doctors at the hospital because his girlfriend’s in a coma, oh, and trying not to hit any rocks while riding because I don’t want to see him cry. (you just know it’d just be a side scroller).

Say what you will, I still believe the cake is a lie.

Today, if you haven’t noticed, I’ve finally begun to delve into other themes. Tech and Music (as of this post). However, granted, this particular bit of music is video game related. However, granted, it’s perhaps one of the best examples of fan-made video game inspired music that is actually original vs the over-abundance of covers created out there.

The title of this song is, “The Device Has Been Modified” by the Victims of Science. Feel free to correct me on this bit (please do! It’ll help dissuade my fears that no-one’s reading my posts!), but from what I gather, this song first appeared as simply created and posted on a “Portal” forum. To me, that’s pretty impressive.

There’s such a wealth of talent out there. I’m still amazed when ever I come across some of the fan art or creations of different properties, more amazed at the music that’s created. You guys (I’m looking at you internet) are awesome!!

That’s it, no big story here, just a fluff piece to give me an excuse to share an awesome tune based on one of the best games of the last decade.

Minecraft 1.2 Trailer!

I love Minecraft. Unfortunately, I don’t currently have the time to let myself get sucked into it as I was when I first started playing.

After watching the video here for the updates, man, I’d be lying if I said that the itch to delve back in wasn’t getting too much to bear.

So, updated Zombie AI…yeah, that’s scary. I can do without that, hehe. You can turn ocelots into housecats!!! How about yeah? Does anyone want to lay down bets on how long it is until someone builds a world out of a gigantic cat-tree? Speaking of that, DOUBLE THE BUILD HEIGHT! Wow, that’s just…wow. Have you seen what people have built so far (1/1 scale Enterprise NCC-1701D)? There’s really some amazing and impressive build-ups out there! Okay, what else? Oh yeah, that zombie problem is a little less frightening because THERE ARE IRON GOLEMS!!!

Okay, I’m going to let go of my excitement for now. Mass Effect 3 comes out in a few days. That’s going to have my free time. But after that….well. Let’s just say that if you were to tune into my webcam at 3 in the morning and see me wearing a bib to catch the catatonic dribble as I stare intently at the screen while utilizing the best of my spacial reasoning skills to build a model of the “Serenity” as my home, don’t be surprised.

How to get the Mass Effect 3 "Space Edition" a week early!

Okay, I’ll start by admitting that this isn’t an easy task. I think from the reports I’ve read, there will only be 5 copies of this ultra special edition in existence.

EA reports that they will be releasing copies of the game into the upper atmosphere via weather balloon, which will include a camera and a GPS tracking device which you can follow on http://www.masseffect.com (there will most likely be updates on their twitter account as well @MassEffect.

The balloons will be launched from New York (I’ll be watching that one), San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris. The exact date of the launch and expected touchdown have yet to be revealed. They simply advertise the opportunity to get the game a week early, so I expect it will be sometime next week (Feb 23rd to March 3rd, 2012). I expect, if you’re interested, that it’s best to keep tabs on the site and twitter feed.

Personally, I think this is some pretty damned rad marketing and you can bet your sweet bippy (if you DO, let me know, my bippy was kind of sour and I threw it away), that I’ll be tracking the NY copy and have my sneakers sitting on at all times, ready to bolt out at a moment’s notice, haha.
