Hero Within: Geek Chic’s Next Level

Today is a special day.

My friend Tony, who is very well integrated in the nerd world (he hosts many panels all over the US, including San Diego Comic Con, and runs his own blog ‘Crazy4ComicCon‘), is bringing fashion and geekiness together with a line of nerdy clothing for men with a slight twist on what we’re used to.

I met Tony a few years ago through common fandoms and interests on social media, and officially at Philly Wizard World when he had reached out to me regarding panels he was set to host, and looking for knowledgeable nerds for panelists, and knew I had quite a few connections. Since then, he’s referred to me as his ‘Nick Fury’ if you will (Nicolette Fury?). I gather geek professionals for his Philly Wizard World panels, and it’s a blast.

What I’ve always noticed each year I saw Tony, even through pictures that he posts on his many con adventures, is that  Continue reading

Batman: Assault on Arkham

top - Copy

Batman: Assault on Arkham, is DC’s latest entry in their animated film series.  Even though the name of the movie starts with Batman, this is really a Suicide Squad movie that just happens to have Batman in it.  The idea of a Suicide Squad movie is actually a good thing, because the idea behind the Suicide Squad is pretty cool.  When the government wants a task done, and they don’t care if the operatives live or die, they take captured criminals, put a bomb in their neck and force them to do the job.  If they get caught, the bomb goes off.  If they refuse to help, the bomb goes off.  If they piss off Amanda Waller, the agent in charge of the operation, the bomb goes off.  So the Suicide Squad is very motivated to accomplish whatever task they need to regardless of the cost.  For the most part this film turned out pretty good.

Comic Book Covers 11/28/2012

There’s a bunch of stuff happening in comics this week.  On the Marvel side we have another new Marvel NOW! book in Hickman’s FF #1.  We also see the end of Brian Michael Bendis’ many years long run on the Avengers with New Avengers #34.  Sad to see him go, but it’s in great hands with Hickman.  For DC we get the first part of the big Aquaman / Justice League crossover: “Throne of Atlantis”.  It may be hard to believe but with Geoff Johns at the helm Aquaman has been fantastic.  Before Watchman also returns this week with Ozymandias and Silk Spectre.  Lots of great covers this week, here’s a few of them.
