For Christmas, I received a most interesting present from my brother-in-law: Sneaky Cards by Gamewright. The premise is to find and meet new people, go to new places, and spread fun and joy through the use of trackable cards. The Sneaky Cards have a tracking ID that, when a holder creates a profile, logs where the card has been (think of those ‘Where’s George’ stamped dollar bills you’ve seen, only this is actually fun).
While I am one who loves meeting new people, I saw this as an opportunity to create a YouTube vlog series documenting my escapades. This vlog will be done monthly where I complete no less than four cards. Should I not complete four cards, I must continue the next month with the four new cards AND the ones that were left incomplete.
In an age where pranking seems to still be all the rage on YouTube, I wanted to create a better atmosphere where we all come together and have fun instead of being shocked or scared. If you’d like to follow my exploits, Like, Share, and Subscribe to my channel. Also, feel free to pick up this month’s #SneakySneaky t-shirt HERE. Enjoy!
A tabletop game renaissance is upon us. With the success of the Unrivaled Tournament Series in Las Vegas this past November, many tabletop gamers have been left to their corner of the table eagerly anticipating the 2018 game lineup. Last year’s smash hit titles ranged from household favorites Ascension, Munchkin, and King of Tokyo to games of lesser-known popularity with Epic Spell Wars 2, Nevermore, and Villager & Villains. As the 2018 series looks to begin with finals taking place this August in Chicago, gamers from around the country are eagerly anticipating word on what games could help them win eternal glory (and a sweet payday). Now we can all just sit here and count our meeples, but I’ve compiled a list of the top five games I’d love to see in this year’s Unrivaled Tournament Series: Continue reading →
As I sit here at my desk pretending to do work that matters, I find my thoughts woozily drifting off to to the stars of 2183 and interstellar space travel. Sipping my green shake in my N7 hoodie, I fondly remember my expedition with Garrus, Wrex, and most importantly Commander Sheppard. Ten years have passed, and still the journey is as fresh as the day I started.
With Mass Effect: Andromeda released earlier this year, the Mass Effect series celebrates a Continue reading →
If you thought that the Unrivaled Tournament Series was starting to sound like those emails your grandma gets from a Nigerian prince with untold fortunes, that’s exactly how Darren Holt, Executive Producer of the Unrivaled TS, felt as he jokingly discussed his concerns about the initial public perception of the event. After reading my original article about my excitement and apprehensions, Holt reached out for a quick phone interview to clarify some of the information I had reported. In addition, CEO/Founder Michael Williams of Oomba also took the time to write an extensive comment regarding the public’s concerns. Here’s a breakdown of the information gathered from these sources:
The Unrivaled Tournament Series encourages players of every level to support their local game stores while promoting a love of gaming as a whole. This will help to expand the market, drawing in new players of all ages. Because of the rise in the gaming industry, Holt sees a place where tSports (Table Top Sports) are almost equal to eSports.
“Legitimacy is everything,” Holt states, in regards to the information given and displayed to the public. When asked about the lack of details to the public, Holt explains that it was necessary to Continue reading →
As nostalgia rules over the ever-aging Millenials with reboots to pull at their heart strings (Ghostbusters, Duck Tales, I even heard a Matrix rumor today…), the samurai on the noblest of quests is back to finish what he started. Canceled after four seasons on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim (2001-2004), Samurai Jack returns to television for one Continue reading →
I’m going to start by saying Nerd-Base.com is not, whatsoever endorsed by Krispy Kreme (seriously though, that would be rad…one day the site will be big enough…maybe). Also, I am not a fan of the pirate fad. What self-respecting geek doesn’t love tasty junk food and coffee? Anyway, I do love their donuts and signed up for the mailing list because they often have fun specials like this. This is seriously pretty ridiculous and I just had to share.
If you’d be so kind, I’d appreciate it if you’d spread the word about this blog.
Hopefully you like what I’ve posted thus far. I’m still open to submissions too!
I can’t realize my dream of seeing this successful without an audience though, so I need you!! Reblog posts that you like! Tell your friends about it!
The blog is hosted on Tumblr, it’s just a button click away!
I can beg…I’ll give you a cookie…
If I have at least 100 followers by the end of March, I’m going to have a little contest/giveaway of some sort. I have a bunch of cool stuff gathered up for the Geek Flea Market and I think I can part with a piece or two as thanks.
Perhaps some lucky follower will get one of my infamous “Gift boxes”….mwahh-ha-ha-haaaaa
This tumblr site may not be the permanent home of Nerd-Base.com, but I (Chris) would definitely like it to be the start point of a growing community for our site…er…base.
So, if you find out about any awesome news in the vein of any “nerdy” topics, if you have an event you’d like to advertise (though there’s a bit more to the advertising than just plop n’ drop), feel free to drop ‘em in the old submit box! I’ll check ‘em out and if they fit the bill, you’ll get credit for your posts. If you post a lot of great content, who knows, you may get a message from me asking you to join our team!
