Shaolin is a story about warlords during early twentieth century China, their relationship with the Shaolin Buddhist temple, and its resident kung-fu monks. The movie’s title, “Shaolin”, is an overly generic name to describe a simple story. I went into this expecting almost a historical account of all things Shaolin. Nope. It’s just a completely fictional story.
When a movie crosses one’s path with Jet Li in a starring role, it’s difficult to imagine anything but a cool action kung fu movie. Don’t get me wrong. While this movie is packed with demon-fighting action, it is really a love story.
Tai Chi Zero is part 1 of a two part movie, the next being “Tai Chi Hero”. These movies are a very VERY loose story interpretation of the famous kung fu tai chi master, Yang Lu-chan, founder of Yang style tai chi chuan.
