X-Box One release date

Xbox-One-logoI was surprised just a moment ago to find an email in my inbox from Microsoft announcing the release date for the Xbox One.  I was even more surprised by the date itself.  The Xbox One will get released on Friday, November 22nd.  There was a lot of speculation leading up to this that the Xbox One would get released the same day as the new Call of Duty: Ghosts which gets released on November 5th.

This also means that the PS4 has a one week advantage over the Xbox One.  In the grand scheme of things this probably doesn’t mean much because getting a system on Day One for both systems will be hard if you aren’t pre-ordering.  Microsoft is still taking pre-Orders for their Day One Editions of the console on their website.

Xbox One news

Xbox-One-logoSeveral news items were released about the Xbox One today.  Microsoft has confirmed more games coming to the Xbox One.  The list is now 50 games strong, however it needs to be noted that these are not necessarily launch games.   Hopefully we will have a release date, and launch lineup this week because of Gamescom, the world’s largest video game convention.  Gamescom starts tomorrow so there will hopefully be a lot of news for both the PS4, and the Xbox One.

Microsoft’s Xbox One 80

Games XboxYesterday the Don Mattrick, Microsoft’s President of Interactive Entertainment Business, released a statement about how much consumer feedback matters to them.    In the statement Microsoft pulled a complete 180 on all of their previously announced draconian policies.     They will no longer have a 24 hour online connectivity, and games can be traded, sold, and rented as they have been for the past 30 years.  As soon as I read the announcement, I pre-ordered my Day One Edition of the Xbox One console from Amazon.  Now the bigger question I have to face is what I do about my PS4 pre-order.

Microsoft just sold me on buying a PS4

Xbox-Next-Gen-2013-Xbox-One-Reveal-041A few weeks ago Microsoft finally announced the successor to the Xbox 360.  The new console, the Xbox One, is slated for release later this year.  I’ve been a diehard Xbox fan since the original Xbox for a few reasons including the size of their controllers over Sony’s Dual Shock controllers.  That all being said, MS might be pushing me towards using Sony’s small controllers with their 24 hour connectivity checks.

Microsoft Surface RT Hands-On

Earlier yesterday I went to a Microsoft Kiosk to try out the Microsoft Surface RT.  After about 30 minutes of demoing multiple units I decided it just wasn’t ready for prime time.  I’ve been using Windows 8 since the Developer Preview was released over a year ago.  It has been my main operating system ever since. Even though Microsoft’s new hardware platform is running a variant version of Windows 8, it just doesn’t have much below the surface. Continue reading Microsoft Surface RT Hands-On
